Backend Engineer
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, backend engineer to join our small, dynamic team. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and launching cloud services, many of which will be written from the ground up. This is a rare chance to join a core team in a rapidly-growing environment, where your work will have a direct and significant impact on the success of our products and the company.
Design & Develop: Build high-performance, scalable backend services and data pipelines to efficiently process real-time financial data. Your expertise will be vital in making our systems robust, secure, and efficient. You will use your knowledge and experience to help build out
our data processing pipelines, calculation engine, permissioning models, client facing APIs, develop SQL scripts to support business operations and more.
Mentorship & Leadership: You'll receive mentorship and guidance from experienced senior team members, while also being trusted with autonomy to take ownership of your work, tackle challenges independently, and contribute meaningfully to key projects.
Innovation: Constantly seek out new technologies and methodologies to keep our backend at the forefront of industry advancements.
Stability & Support: Help our engineering team maintain and improve the reliability of the existing features and join in the on-call rotation
Requirements
- You have experience working with Rust or are eager to deepen your expertise in it.
- Alternatively, you have solid experience in another programming language, ideally a JVM-based language.
- You’ve built and deployed production-ready code and worked on real-time data processing systems.
You have experience with:
- Latency-sensitive and multi-threaded systems
- Stream processing platforms (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar) and tools (e.g. Flink Kafka
Streams)
- Scalable distributed systems and algorithms
- While you’re highly capable of tackling complex technical challenges, you go beyond
just getting things working—you think about how systems perform at scale, how
they’re monitored and debugged, how they fail gracefully, and how they stay secure.
- You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and are comfortable navigating
ambiguity.
- You’re a proactive self-starter who takes ownership and is motivated by the challenge of building innovative systems.
- You have hands-on experience with both relational, non-relational and time-series databases.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure is essential, with AWS considered a strong plus.
